About BEACON

BEACON is a recovery support application designed to help individuals find recovery meetings, check in to meetings, generate attendance verification records, report meeting issues, verify meeting information, connect with sponsors, and communicate within a recovery-focused environment.

Information We Collect

BEACON may collect a participant identifier, name, nickname, sponsor profile information, app usage activity, meeting search activity, meeting check-in records, location data used for meeting finding and verification, sponsor messages, meeting reports, community verifications, and feedback submissions.

Sponsor Profile Information

Sponsors may optionally provide additional profile information to improve matching. This may include demographic information such as age range, gender, or race, recovery-related experience such as trauma history, mental health experience, incarceration history, and personal context such as veteran status or parenting status.

All sponsor profile fields are optional. Sponsors may choose whether each field is displayed publicly or used only for matching purposes.

Sensitive Information

BEACON may process sensitive user-provided information related to recovery, health, or personal life experiences. This information is provided voluntarily and is used only to support matching, communication, and recovery-related features within the app.

Sensitive information is never used for advertising, profiling, or resale.

Location Use

BEACON uses location data to find nearby meetings and confirm proximity for meeting check-ins. Location is only used while the app is in use and is not used for advertising. BEACON does not require background location access.

Attendance Verification

Check-in records may include meeting details, timestamps, and location-based verification data. These records are used to generate attendance documentation for recovery tracking, personal use, or external programs.

BEACON provides documentation support but does not guarantee acceptance by any court, probation, or treatment provider.

Usage Analytics

BEACON collects limited usage data to understand feature usage, improve performance, troubleshoot issues, and guide future development.

Sponsor Messaging

Messages between users and sponsors are stored to support communication within the app. Users should avoid sharing emergency, financial, or highly sensitive personal information.

Meeting Reports and Verification

Users may report meeting problems or verify meeting accuracy. These features help maintain accurate meeting data but do not confirm attendance.

Ads and Paid Features

BEACON may display ads or featured recovery resources. Users may have the option to remove ads or unlock additional features through in-app purchases.

All purchases are processed securely through the Google Play billing system. BEACON does not store or process payment card information directly.

Data Sharing

BEACON does not sell personal information. Data may be processed using secure infrastructure strictly for operating and improving the app.

Data Retention

Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide functionality and is deleted when no longer needed or when requested by the user.

Data Deletion

You may delete your data at any time within the app through the Settings screen.

If you cannot access the app, you may request deletion through the Send Feedback option or through the BEACON website.

Deleting your data permanently removes all associated records including attendance history, messages, and profile data. This action cannot be undone.

Security

BEACON uses reasonable safeguards to protect data. While no system is completely secure, best practices are followed.

Children’s Privacy

BEACON is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

This policy may be updated over time. Changes will be reflected by updating the date above.

Emergency Disclaimer

BEACON is not an emergency service, medical provider, or crisis hotline. If you are in immediate danger or crisis, call 911 or your local emergency services.

Contact

Please use the Send Feedback option within the app for questions or concerns.
